Scions of Sagana

Golems of Doom
Batter Up!

Tonight, the group fought (and defeated) a combat simulator built by the gnomes aboard the airship Gymkata. Gorgonzola and Zerafina were caught in a stasis field inside the simulator, leaving Seraphina and Murder to face wave after wave of combat golems, while Lia helped by watching from the sidelines and pushing the inventor of the combat simulator into the simulator. And then pulling him back out before he could be ripped to shreds by little golems.

There was one particular golem much larger than the others, with a metal club (The Slugger), who engaged Murder in single combat, and Murder did pretty well for being not made of metal.

The group that was here got 2500 XP, those who did not make it can take 1250 XP for the night.

At the end of the session, the imperial city was in visual range, but looking at it through a telescope, you see something that you’ve never seen on the walls of a city before – giant freaking crossbows. Seraphina ordered the airship down.

Patches the Zombie
And Fantasy Costco has a sale on flaming swords!

The team found a magic cathedral, where some elf-guy was conducting some kind of ritual. A mummy was awakened, and promptly ate fireball. (That was easy.)

But has the magic been truly put to rest that was summoning all those zombies? The team doesn’t know, because they high-tailed it back to Fantasy Costco with a golden sarcophagus they found in the cathedral.

What was that guy doing? What’s up with the zombies? We don’t know, because that guy totally teleported away… someplace.

2500 XP for each player.
There was some gold, hopefully you wrote that part down.

Also, a scroll of call lightning (Seraphina), a potion of animal friendship (Gorgonzola), a greater healing potion (Lia), and dust of disappearance (Laura).

Off to the East!
And a quick stop at Fantasy Costco!

Some shopping. Horses and gear were purchased. Also, zombies were fought. Books were read. Zerafina finds her Archfey in the arms of another woman! Bum-bum-baaaaaa!
Next time, expect crazy weird zombie attacks. Also, lots of XP.

Meanwhile, Fantasy Costco has appeared. Magically transporting from place to place at sundown, Fantasy Costco will randomly appear from time to time. They have a limited but powerful inventory, which seems to change every time you find it.

Here’s what’s available at Fantasy Costco this trip. Unless otherwise noted, the store only has ONE of the item in stock. Because Seraphina was the first one to go to Fantasy Costco, she does get first selection of items. We’ll say that she explains the store to everyone when she gets back. You MUST be a member of Fantasy Costco to purchase items at Fantasy Costco, and during their extra-super-special traveling quest for the right location, a LIFETIME membership is available for a mere 50 GP.

ALCHEMIST’S RING: 500gp
When the wearer of this ring imbibes a healing potion, they receive 1d6 additional healing.

HAUNTED DOLL – 100 GP
This doll is very creepy. If its owner ever fails a third death save, the doll will take the hit instead, and will die in place of its owner.

SHIELD OF HEROIC MEMORIES (1200 GP)
This perfectly round silver shield initially has a mirror finish. As a hero takes it into battle it remembers the enemies encountered, gaining a +1 to AC on any subsequent battle with creatures of that type. The events of the battle are intricately engraved onto the shield’s surface (which has a seemingly endless capacity for detail).

The bearer of the shield may also attempt to recount past battles (real or imagined) to the shield. Upon a DC 10 charisma check or DC 15 bluff check, the shield confers a +1 AC against the creatures described in the tall tales.

3 failed attempts at recounting stories cause the shield to be cleared of all of its memories. The engravings disappear. It reverts to its mirror finish. All bonuses are lost.

THE GLUTTON’S FORK (750 GP)
Once a day this fork will allow the user to eat any non-magical item they can fit in their mouth and gain 2d6 points of health. Just tap the fork on the item and it will turn edible.

NO-SODIUM SALT SHAKER: (400 GP)
this might look like a simple salt shaker, but the contents have been bewitched to turn a bright shade of pink if sprinkled over food or drink that contains poison!

IMMOVABLE ROD (1100 GP) (3 in stock)
This rod is a flat iron bar with a small button on one end. When the button is pushed (a move action), the rod does not move from where it is, even if staying in place defies gravity. Thus, the owner can lift or place the rod wherever he wishes, push the button, and let go. Several immovable rods can even make a ladder when used together (although only two are needed). An immovable rod can support up to 8,000 pounds before falling to the ground. If a creature pushes against an immovable rod, it must make a DC 30 Strength check to move the rod up to 10 feet in a single round.

Flaming Poisoning Raging Sword of Doom – 60,000 GP
A sword with a gigantic blade, wreathed in flames and with a crooked, oozing scorpion’s stinger affixed to its point. Deals an extra 20 melee damage.

The Nit Picker (900 GP)
Physical Description: Resembles a miniature garden gnome that carries lock picking tools in his hands. When not in use, looks like a 4" inch tall statue.

Use: Twice daily, can be placed in front of a locked object to unlock it (functions as the spell “Knock”). At this point, the statue comes to life in order to pick the lock. After the lock is picked (or if he is unable to open it), reverts back to an inanimate statue.

Side Effects: While picking the lock, the Nit Picker critiques any or all members of the party on their recent performance in the campaign. Nothing escapes the critical eye of the Nit Picker, no matter how small the perceived offense.

Plastic Sheriff Badge (500 GP)
Adds +3 to bluff checks when impersonating a person of authority.

The Champion’s Belt (800 GP)
This ornate belt is given to someone who has bested all opponents in a test of strength. Once per day the wearer may substitute their Strength score for their Wisdom or Charisma when making a stat check.

The Anti Gravity Sphere (500 GP)
a small fist-sized glass ball filled with a silvery smoke. When the sphere is destroyed, it disables the effect of gravity on everything in a 30ft radius. (Works like an anti-grav grenade)

Healing Potion – 50 GP each (3 in stock)
Heals the imbiber for 2d4+2 HP.

Rusted Can of Cheerwine (400 GP) Has seen some better days, but seems to be radiating with vital energies. Grants +5 max HP.

Attack of the 'Finas
Alignment checks for everyone! Also, zombies.

So, in the last session, there was a bit of a thing where our two ‘erafinas (S) and (Z), got into it a little bit over a letter that may have something to do with the outright brutal murder-death-killing of Serafina’s family. There may, at some point, have been a question asked along the lines of “Can I cut off her arms?” Attack rolls happened, some mistakes were made, and then zombies attacked. Like, a lot of them. A herd. Coming from the East.

Incidentally, you guys have seen quite a few zombies roaming around. I wonder where those might be coming from?

Anyway, it looks like Lia’s grandpa has had his soul sucked out. It may have something to do with that letter. Maybe. Perhaps. The Elves are without their prophetic mentor. He’s being kept in Seraphina’s bag of holding for now. He’s without his soul. That is vaguely maybe off to the East somewhere.

So… where to next?

Grishnak Has Left the Building
The Metal is Defeated

Epic rock battle between the Dragonborn bard – Gorgonzola, and a Half-Orc Bard named Grishnak Axe-Biter. Due to a large number of successful performance checks, the power of cute girly music (and Simon and Garfunkel) defeated Iced Earth, Judas Priest, and Budgie.

Grishnak escaped, swearing revenge upon the group, and drinking a healing potion.

Due to the large number of orcs defeated, most of the team made it to level 6.

The team found a couple of scrolls, and somehow, Seraphina found a bag of holding. Looking inside she found… (tune in next time!)

Into the tunnels!
Gnomes, Cubes, and Regret

The team met a gnome cleric, who guided them through tunnels under the Elf Watchtower (currently occupied by a hostile Orc army).

Several undead were fought and defeated. (Eventually, the team needs to find out where these zombies are coming from.)

Also, a gelatinous cube holding a magic dagger was defeated.

The team wound up in a chamber directly beneath the tower, a hole in the ceiling leads up to what is probably a basement.

500 XP for everyone.

Nights 9 & 10 - Orcs A-Go-Go
The Most Metal Night Yet

Night 9 – you guys made it to the Elf lands, and discovered a Lich. Then the Lich for reasons unknown declined to murderate you all, and left, laughing.

Night 10 – The Elimination of the Main Orc Camp was largely accomplished by a) killing one of the Orc Warchiefs, then b) setting a character on fire (Murder), and walking her through the camp, setting tents and orcs on fire. A number of magical items were found, including a Gem of Brightness, a Doss Lute, Gauntlets of Ogre Power, Boots of Striding and Springing, and a Scimitar of Vengeance (CURSED!).

Next time, there’s a tower full of about 40 orcs that needs to be cleaned out, and one WarChief keeping them in place.

Night 8 - Traps and Bindings

Short version: You guys found the guy Alejandro sent you to locate. And the roc’s egg.
At the end of it, the Roc is now coming up a tunnel after its egg.

DM MATH FAIL – I had said that everyone should get 550 XP. That was wrong. Please give yourselves 700 XP, and Murder gets 350 for boat-watching with extreme prejudice.

Night 7 - Shopping

Basically, it was a chance for people to spend some of their well-won loot. We also talked our way out of being taken to the local pokey by a bunch of guys wearing a specific symbol.

Seraphina got a brooch of protection (1 AC and to all saving throws). And she spent time in a ball pit. Except the balls were kittens. She spent a lot of time screaming.
Lia got the curse taken from her ring (ring of telekinesis) and a cloak of Elvenkind. Also, a Bg of Tricks (Tan)
Zeraphina got Studded Leather Armor, and a Bag of Tricks. (Rust)
Gorgonzola got hold of a book that purports to tell the story of the Oathbound. (look for that in a wiki article?)
Murder got to bench press children. They hit things for her. And she bought a +1 breastplate. (AC 15
Dex Bonus up to 2)

Night 6 - Ringed
Somebody rocked out, and someone got rocked.

So, tonight, a number of the party was transported into a pocket dimension that contained a wizard’s laboratory. SEVERAL guardians were fought and vanquished including:
2 zombies (one normal, one Ogre.) – 750 XP
8 Giant rats – 500 XP
1 Black Pudding – 1100 XP
Muk.jpg

1 Basilisk – 700 XP

All told, the party got 3,050 XP, and each participant gets 763 XP for tonight.

ADDITIONALLY, you guys found a chest full of coins – 950 GP each, 3 jade gems each (each jade gem is worth 100 GP, and you each got three gems).

Seraphina was turned to stone, and was saved thanks to a miraculous stone that when touched to her returned her to life. (magic stone is now in Claire’s possession).

Lia found a magic ring that has some bad vibes coming off it.

You may consider spending some of your new-found gold on better armor. Now that you’re in Tien, you’ll have access to armorers and weaponers, though you probably won’t find anything better than the magic weapons you acquired at the Forge of the Oathbound. At least, not here, and not yet.

Next time: Expect Alejandro to put you guys through “training”. By which I mean he has jobs for you.
